What is Expat Improv?
Expat Improv offers i mprovisation workshops in English in Cologne and Düsseldorf. Each session is built around a unique theme — with plenty of room for creativity, play and experimentation. You’ll learn to respond spontaneously, listen actively and create scenes together — no scripts, no pressure, just play. Afterwards, we often stay together to socialise.
Where do the workshops take place?
Workshops take place at our own Expat Improv Studios in Düsseldorf and Cologne — welcoming spaces with the right atmosphere for improv and playing together in the moment. For companies, we also offer in-house workshops in Düsseldorf, Cologne and across Germany.
Who can participate?
Improv is open to everyone — regardless of age, background or experience. You don’t need to be loud, funny or extroverted. Just show up, play and see what happens. No prior experience needed. No performance pressure. Mistakes are allowed and even encouraged. What matters is openness and a willingness to try something new. Many participants say after their first session: “I never thought I could do this — but I had so much fun.”
What is improv good for?
Improv is great for building spontaneity, creativity and presence — and above all for laughing together and connecting with others in a playful way. Along the way it builds confidence, encourages flexible thinking and helps you handle uncertainty with more ease. Many participants come for the fun and stay for what they discover about themselves.
What formats does Expat Improv offer?
Expat Improv offers different formats to suit your goals and schedule:
- Open Improv Workshops: Single drop-in sessions, each with a unique theme. No commitment, no series — just come when it works for you. 19 €
- Weekend Workshops: Longer, more intensive formats diving deeper into specific areas — character work, scene construction, storytelling and more. From 79 €
- Guest Instructor Workshops: Special sessions led by experienced guest teachers from the international improv community. Price and duration vary.
- For Companies: In-house improv workshops in Düsseldorf, Cologne and across Germany, also available in English.
