What is improvisational theatre?

Welcome to the exciting world of improvisational theatre!

Improv or Impro, as it's often called, is a unique form of theatre in which performers bring stories to life without a script. Instead, they take inspiration from prompts provided by the audience.
For example, the audience may suggest a location for a scene, a profession for one of the main characters, or an object that should play a special role in the scene.

From there, the performers create an entirely unique story in the moment, responding to one another's cues and offers.

But why is improvisational theatre so popular? It turns out there are many benefits to practicing improv.
